Bio

I’m running for City Council because Vancouver is one of the most liveable cities in the world, but right now too many people can’t see a future here. I will bring solutions-focused leadership that doesn’t leave people behind, and gets us back on track to being a city where people can afford to stay, build their lives, and be part of their communities.

I’m a public health leader and scientist, and for nearly two decades I’ve worked in and alongside local, provincial, and federal governments on many of the same challenges Vancouver is facing. I’ve studied what works to make communities healthier here and in cities around the world, and have worked with partners to put these solutions into practice. I’m a nationally recognized expert on these issues and frequently write and speak about them, and continue to teach, train and mentor the next generation of health professionals in British Columbia.

I’m running with VoteVancouver because they offer the kind of leadership our city needs right now: practical, rooted in community, and committed to finding common ground and the right partners to get big things done.

My priorities are grounded in what people are experiencing day-to-day. I want to unlock city spaces to bring more services and recreation into neighbourhoods, helping ease everyday affordability pressures. I want to use city land to partner on building homes for people who face the steepest barriers, so that Vancouver remains a place where everyone has a chance to thrive. And I want to make it easier for businesses to get off the ground, creating good local jobs that strengthen our economy.
